Mentoring – Candidate Support
The World Class Teaching Program, WCTP, at the University of Mississippi strives to meet the needs of all candidates. In order, to better serve you regardless of your location in the state or what your personal need is the WCTP offers two types of mentoring. Mentors are all trained and provided with a vast supply of high quality resources.
Traditional Face-to-Face Mentoring
Mentoring meets alternate weeks from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (this may vary at some locations). Mentoring sites are hosted at Oxford, Southaven, Grenada, and Tupelo. Candidates will participate in a cohort and benefit from live feedback and guidance under the care of a National Board Certified Teacher. All cohorts are grouped by certificate area.
Online Mentoring
The WCTP is excited to announce the introduction of a true online self-paced course at the University of Mississippi. This course consists of an introduction to the National Board process and contains a module for each component. Candidates will work their way through each module at their own pace. Modules are very thorough and include videos, voice over-lay Powerpoints, embedded resources, handouts, and assignments. Candidates are paired with a mentor electronically and will submit assignments to their mentors. Mentors will respond by completing a detailed feedback form. This course was created in collaboration with Stanford University and utilizes candidate support resources from Albuquerque, New Mexico’s National Board Network. This course can be completed in 1, 2, or 3 years, and candidates have the flexibility to choose which components they complete.
